Brackenridge Park
3700 N St. Mary’s St., San Antonio, San Antonio, TX, 78212
Take a recreation break at Brackenridge Park, a huge San Antonio green space listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Since Brackenridge is the largest park in the city, it's easy to come here spontaneously and find something to do. You can visit the zoo, ride the carousel, play a round of golf, bike the trails, and much more.
The basics
From fishing to softball, boating, birdwatching, and more—if there's something that you love to do in the great outdoors, chances are Brackenridge Park is the place San Antonians do it. Meet friends for a picnic, stroll along the San Antonio River, or add a visit to the Japanese Tea Garden to peek at its koi ponds.
Families can make the most of a day here by pairing a visit to the San Antonio Zoo and stopping by the DoSeum; the kid-friendly museum is packed with interactive exhibits. Gardeners shouldn't miss the San Antonio Botanical Gardens, which is conveniently situated just east of Brackenridge Park, and history fans can visit the Witte Museum near the park's Joske Pavilion.
