Brindleyplace
Birmingham, West Midlands
Lively with shops, restaurants, and attractions, Birmingham’s Brindleyplace development offers plenty of ways to spend a day or night out. Situated in a historic warehouse district that overlooks the city’s canal network, it attracts some 4 million visitors each year, making it one of the city’s most popular areas.
The basics
With its tree-lined squares, canal-front location, and abundant dining and entertainment options, Brindleyplace is a magnet for visitors to Birmingham. During the day, you can stop for lunch at one of its restaurants, pause for a coffee at a café, or grab a pint at one of its bars. Afterwards, drop by the National SEA LIFE® Centre Birmingham (home to the UK’s only 360° ocean tunnel) or the Ikon Gallery, an internationally acclaimed contemporary arts venue.
After the sun sets, swing by for dinner or drinks, or, to get cultural, head to the Crescent Theatre to see a show. Brindleyplace is close to the Birmingham city center, so visiting is easy.
Things to know before you go
For visitors looking to stay the night, there’s one hotel located right in the Brindleyplace complex. Wheelchair lifts are available on-site to ensure the center is accessible to disabled visitors. If you can, visit on a good-weather day so you can enjoy the outdoor public spaces and watch the canal boats go by.
How to get there
Brindleyplace is located at Brindleyplace, Brunswick Street, Birmingham B1 2JF, in the city’s Westside area. To get there via public transportation, take the West Midlands Metro tram to Brindley Place, or take one of the buses that stop nearby. The center is about a 20-minute walk from Birmingham New Street—the city’s main train station—and parking is also available on-site.
When to get there
Brindleyplace is an all-day dining, retail, and entertainment destination; as such, it doesn’t have strict opening hours. It’s best to look up the specific opening times for the restaurants or venues you’d like to visit. Also check the calendar for special events at the center, such as farmers markets, theatrical performances, and more.
Other attractions near Brindleyplace
While it offers a wealth of its own attractions, Brindleyplace is also located near many of Birmingham’s most popular tourist destinations. Some nearby highlights include the LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, Birmingham’s Symphony Hall, and the Utilita Arena Birmingham concert venue.
