Things to Know Before You Go

• Park restrooms are available at Pier 1, Pier 2, the Pier 5 Boathouse, and Pier 6.

• Boasting Jane’s Carousel, playground facilities, and other kid-friendly attractions, Brooklyn Bridge Park is a popular destination for families.

• Dogs must be kept on leashes, and smoking is not permitted.

• All park entrances and paths are accessible to wheelchair users and those with strollers, as are most facilities.

How to Get There

Brooklyn Bridge Park is located in the North Brooklyn neighborhoods of DUMBO and Brooklyn Heights. To reach the park via subway, take the A, C to High Street; the F to York Street; the 2, 3 to Clark Street; the R to Court Street; or the 2, 3, 4, and 5 to Borough Hall. The park is also served by ferries and buses and can be reached on foot, by bike, or by taxi or rideshare.

When to Get There

Brooklyn Bridge Park is open daily from 6am–1am. Individual areas of the park, including Pier 2, Pier 5, Squibb Park, and more, have differing opening hours, as do the venues and amenities hosted on site. Check specifics in advance of your trip.

Movies with a View

One of Brooklyn Bridge Park’s most popular annual events is Movies with a View, a series of summertime open-air movie screenings. The screenings are free to attend, and visitors are advised to bring their own blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics (if preferred).

Ways to explore

While you can explore Brooklyn Bridge Park independently, a guided tour can help you see the highlights and have some fun along the way. It’s a popular starting point for bike tours across the Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge, which connect you to Lower Manhattan highlights, including Chinatown and Wall Street. You can also rent bikes from nearby cycle shops. The park is also commonly featured on walking tours of the Dumbo neighborhood—including food tours that let you sample local favorites, such as the renowned Grimaldi’s Pizzeria.

Brooklyn Bridge Park is located along the East River waterfront between Dumbo and Brooklyn Heights, and is easy to reach by public transit, including bus, subway, and ferry. It’s also a great destination for a cycle ride, including guided bike tours.

Driving

While you can drive to Brooklyn Bridge Park, it’s not recommended due to limited parking options. Avoid the endless search for street parking by taking a taxi or rideshare service instead.

Public transportation

By subway, take the A or C to High Street; the F to York Street; the 2 or 3 to Clark Street; the R to Court Street; or the 2, 3, 4, or 5 to Borough Hall. You can also go by bus: B25, B63, B61, or B67. Alternatively, board the East River Ferry or South Brooklyn Ferry to Dumbo/Fulton Ferry.

Best times to visit

Arrive just before sunset for the best photo ops of the Manhattan skyline bathed in golden hour light. Plan an early morning visit when the weather is nice for the fewest crowds.

Best days to visit

The park fills up fast on the weekend, so visit midweek for a quieter experience. Stop by the free, kid-friendly Environmental Education Center on Tuesday, Thursday, or Saturday afternoons.

Best months to visit

Brooklyn Bridge Park bursts to life in April with colorful blooms, including cherry blossoms. The park peaks in summer (July through early September), when river breezes offer a respite from the heat.

Special events

Catch free outdoor movies every Thursday evening in July and August during Movies with View, one of the park’s most popular events. Arrive early to secure a good spot on the lawn.
