POINT OF INTEREST

Cala Santanyí

Santanyí, Majorca

Framing a picture-postcard inlet in southeastern Mallorca, Cala Santanyi hits the sweet spot between a fully-fledged beach resort and a quiet Balearics village. Visitors spend their time lazing on the white sand beach, enjoying watersports, and savoring the unspoiled scenery, all while relishing the gently traditional vibe.

The basics

Melting into the low cliffs and pine woods that hug its turquoise waters, Cala Santanyi pitches itself perfectly as a low-key and family-friendly resort. Topping its attractions is the sandy bay, where you can swim and snorkel, go paddleboarding, kayaking, or scuba diving, and relax at one of the beachside restaurants or cafés.

Visitors also stroll the surrounding cliffs to view the Es Pontàs sea arch or explore the historic inland town of Santanyi or the neighboring harbor village of Cala Figuera. Alternatively, consider joining one of the summertime boat trips that leave Cala Figuera to cruise the scenic surrounding coastline, stopping for swim and snorkel breaks en route.

Things to know before you go

  • Cala Santanyi is ideal for beach and watersports lovers of all ages, walkers, and anyone seeking a low-key resort.

  • A walkway on the sands and level access from the central car park make the beach accessible to wheelchair users and anyone with reduced mobility.

  • Summertime beach facilities include showers, restrooms, lifeguard supervision, and rental sunloungers and parasols.

  • The sea is shallow and calm in summer, making it ideal for families with little ones.
