Camelback Mountain Resort

301 Resort Drive, Tannersville, Pennsylvania

Nested in the Poconos in northeastern Pennsylvania, Camelback Resort is one of the region’s most popular outdoor retreats. During the winter months, it draws skiers, snow tubers, and those looking to hit the slopes, while its two water parks, shopping and dining options, and outdoor summer activities round out the calendar.

The largest ski resort in the Poconos, Camelback Resort has welcomed families and outdoorsy types since opening in 1963. The resort is particularly active in the winter high season, boasting 125 days per year of snowy activities, from skiing and snowboarding to snow tubing, as well as a Ski & Ride Academy for beginners. If you’d rather not hit the slopes, the Aquatopia Indoor Waterpark is at the ready; together with the seasonal Camelbeach Outdoor Waterpark, the two offer dozens of water slides and play areas. Rounded out with summery activities like ziplines, a mountain coaster, and treetop adventure courses, there’s no shortage of things to do all year round.

  • To make navigating easier, download the Camelback Resort app, which includes maps and information about the resort’s offerings, and the option to book various experiences.
  • Ski and snowboard equipment rentals are offered by the resort.
  • Those wishing to stay at Camelback can choose from a range of suites.
  • Multiple eateries and two gift shops are located on-site.

Camelback Resort is in Tannersville, Pennsylvania, in the Pocono Mountains. It’s a roughly 2-hour drive from New York City via I-80 W, and a 2-hour drive from Philadelphia via I-476 N. The nearest major hub to the town is Stroudsburg, which is 11 miles (18 kilometers) east of the resort. There are limited public transportation options.

Camelback Resort is open 365 days a year, and given its wealth of activities, there’s never a bad time to visit. Winter is the high season, with all the action on the slopes, and that’s also when prices will be at their highest. The resort also holds special events throughout the year, including Fourth of July fireworks.

The Pocono Mountains are filled with natural beauty, and it’s worth venturing beyond the resort to discover more of the region. Highlights of the Poconos include Hickory Run State Park, the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway, the Pocono Raceway (which hosts NASCAR events), the hip hub of Stroudsburg, and more.
