The ninth-largest shopping complex in the world, Bangkok’s behemoth CentralWorld has roughly 500 stores, 50 dining outlets, cinemas, an ice rink, a fitness center, and even its own 5-star hotel. The mall measures around 5,920,000 square feet (550,000 square meters), divided into several zones for easier navigation.
The basics
CentralWorld is nothing short of massive, with flagship locations of global brands including Uniqlo and H&M alongside Thai brands such as popular handbag designer NaRaYa. Just be warned that there's a lot of ground to cover, so if you're short on time, you may want to consider going as part of a private, customizable tour of Bangkok with a guide who can help you find your way around efficiently.

How to get there
CentralWorld is located in the Pathum Wan district of Thailand, an area full of shopping malls and hotels. If you’re coming by public transportation, you can ride the MRT to the Sukhumvit station. You can also take the Sukhumvit Line of the BTS Skytrain to either Siam or Chit Lom station, or the Silom Line to Siam station.
When to get there
CentralWorld is open daily from morning until nighttime. The mall tends to be at its busiest at lunchtime and again in the evening, when the after-work crowd comes to shop and dine. It’s also lively on weekends. If you want to beat the crowds, you’re best off coming first thing in the morning on a weekday.
What to buy
Some of Thailand’s best souvenirs can be found in local supermarkets. If you want to bring home some typically Thai gifts, consider picking up some dried durian (a controversially pungent fruit that’s popular in the region) a few packets of Big Sheet (giant slices of dried seaweed), or local spices used to infuse Thai curries with heat and flavor.
