Chaoyang Theatre is one of the best places to see a Chinese acrobatics show. Young acrobats from across China perform here, spinning plates, balancing on stacks of chairs, and riding motorcycles upside down in a steel cage, among other seemingly impossible feats of athleticism and strength.
The Basics
More than 3 million tourists have come to the Chaoyang Theatre to watch these acrobats during their 2-decade run. Performances last an hour. You can choose between a basic performance ticket, or upgrade the experience with extras like a Peking duck dinner, private car transfer, or a VIP seat. If you’re short on time, combine a daytime tour of the Forbidden City and Temple of Heaven with dinner and the show at the Chaoyang Theatre.

DVDs of the show are available for purchase after each performance.
It’s a good idea to book your tickets at least two days in advance to avoid disappointment.
How to Get There
If you haven’t booked a tour with hotel transfer, take the metro to and from the show, as getting a taxi after a performance can be quite difficult. The nearest subway stop is Hujialou Station along Line 10.

The Chaoyang Theatre puts on two shows nightly. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to find your seat.
About the Chaoyang Theatre
The theater was built in 1984 in Beijing’s Chaoyang District. The 2-story building can seat 1,400 spectators in its main theater; a smaller theater hosts Peking opera performances. While seats on the lower floor tend to be more expensive, views are just as good (if not better) from the upper floor.
