Dreamworld
Dreamworld Parkway, Coomera, Gold Coast, Queensland, 4209
Offering more than 50 rides and attractions, Dreamworld is Australia’s largest theme park and one of the most popular Gold Coast family attractions. With big-thrill rides, live shows, the adjoining WhiteWater World water park, and animal residents—including tigers, koalas, and crocodiles—there’s something to entertain all ages.
The Basics
Standard day passes offer entrance to both Dreamworld and WhiteWater World theme parks, including skip-the-line access to all the rides, shows, and presentations. Multi-day and season passes also include entry to SkyPoint Observation Deck. You can also book additional VIP and optional activities.
For time-pressed travelers, the Ride Express option provides virtual queue reservations for top rides. Visitors without their own transport can get a Gold Coast Roo Pass, which includes round-trip shared transfers between the Gold Coast Airport or Gold Coast hotels and attractions, including Dreamworld, Wet'n'Wild, Sea World, and the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.
Things to Know Before You Go
On-site facilities include lockers, drinking fountains, free car parking, and a selection of shops, cafés, and restaurants.
Most attractions are outdoors, so bring sun protection and wear comfortable clothing and footwear. Pack a towel and a change of clothes if taking part in any water-based activities.
Many rides and attractions are wheelchair accessible, and wheelchair rental is available on-site (advance reservations recommended).
Minimum height or maximum weight requirements vary for each ride.
How to Get There
Dreamworld is in Coomera on the Gold Coast, Queensland, about a 45-minute drive south of Brisbane or an approximately 30-minute drive north of Surfers Paradise. The best way to get to the theme park is by car, taxi, or shuttle, but public buses from the Gold Coast also stop close to the park. The closest train stations are the Coomera and Helensvale stations.
When to Get There
Dreamworld is open year-round, but the summer months (December–January) can get crowded. With sunny days all year, visiting in low season can help maximize your time and avoid crowds, but visiting during school holidays and celebrations can be more atmospheric, with a greater number of shows, parades, and character meet-and-greets.
Family Fun at Dreamworld
Adrenaline junkies brave nine big thrill rides, including Pandamonium, Tower of Terror II, The Claw and the Giant Drop. Kids head to ABC Kids World, Trolls Village, or Wiggles World. DreamWorks Experience allows you to meet characters fromShrek,Madagascar,Kung Fu Panda, andPuss in Boots. In the recently refurbished Tiger Island, see Sumatran and Bengal tigers. Watch live shows, including a sheep shearing demonstration, and a spectacularMadagascar Live! performance.
Is Dreamworld on the Gold Coast worth visiting?
Yes, Dreamworld is worth visiting. This Gold Coast theme park offers a mix of experiences, from high-flying rides to wildlife walks, as well as daily entertainment featuring human-sized koala mascots. It also has plenty of attractions for smaller kids, including the Bananas in Pajamas Fun Maze and Seabed Splash.
Should I buy Dreamworld tickets in advance?
Yes, it’s a good idea to buy Dreamworld tickets in advance online, to avoid a potential line to purchase same-day passes. You also can bundle Dreamworld tickets with other bookings: Consider money-saving combos that add extras such as airport transfers, line priority, and admission to other Gold Coast theme parks.
What is the best day of the week to visit Dreamworld?
The best day to visit Dreamworld is a weekday. Weekends bustle with local crowds that come to enjoy the theme park’s rides, entertainment, and wildlife attractions. On weekdays the park is generally much quieter, so you’re likely to spend less time waiting in line for popular experiences, food, and souvenirs.
What is the best time of year to visit Dreamworld?
Summer is peak season for Gold Coast theme parks—in part that’s because warm days are ideal for playing at the adjoining WhiteWater World. If you’re skipping waterslides and just focusing on exploring Dreamworld, consider coming in the winter; June, July, and August all tend to be quieter times to visit.
Does Dreamworld have a dress code?
No, Dreamworld does not have a dress code, although you should avoid clothing with offensive slogans. At adjacent WhiteWater World, bring swimwear without exposed rivets, zippers, or metal. And, long pants must be made of swimwear material. Only some slides allow eyewear: When possible, leave glasses safely in your luggage.
What's better: Dreamworld or Movie World?
It depends on your interests. Dreamworld and Warner Bros. Movie WorldTM are top Gold Coast theme parks, but they’re different. Movie World is known for thrilling rides, a stunt show, and celebrity look-alikes. Dreamworld offers theater entertainment and wildlife experiences such as the Twilight Trail and Rainforest, along with rides.
