Escape Theme Park Penang
Jalan Teluk Bahang, George Town, Penang, 11050
Escape Penang is an immersive activity park in jungle-clad grounds that's best known for its signature 3,645-foot (1,111-meter) waterslide, which won a Guinness World Record in 2019. You'll find three main elements. There’s Adventureplay, a ropes course; Waterplay, a water park with high-adrenaline slides and rides; and Gravityplay, a hilltop attraction.
The basics
Escape delivers a day out for the whole family, whether it's riding the chair lift to the top of the giant slide, braving the ropes course, floating down the lazy river, or enjoying activities from aerobatics and trampolining to freefall, karting, gravity luge, and climbing walls. There are many ways to visit: with a standard day ticket, 2-day ticket, weekly pass, or via an overnight adventure at Escape’s camp site.
Things to know before you go
- Escape Theme Park is a great choice for families with school-age children. Under-3s go free and have their own play pool.
- Height, weight, and age restrictions apply for many rides and activities.
- The water park operates a strict swimwear-only policy—no T-shirts or sports shorts, as those fibers can affect the water.
- Few Escape Penang attractions are accessible to travelers who use wheelchairs.
How to get there
Escape Theme Park is about 14 miles (22 kilometers) west of George Town on Penang Island, in the Teluk Bahang area. Driving (allow about 30 minutes) is the most convenient, but you can also take a 101 bus at Jetty or Komtar or a 102 at the airport or Komtar. Both buses stop at the park gates, and Escape will refund the fare to your wristband. The bus ride from Komtar takes about an hour.
When to get there
Escape Theme Park opens from morning until early evening six days a week, closing on Mondays for maintenance. Tickets are discounted and lines for key attractions are shorter on “off-peak” days, outside weekends and public holidays.
About the Escape Penang slide
Opened in November 2019, Escape Theme Park’s longest slide loops through the treetops from a height of 230 feet (70 meters) for 3,645 feet (1,111 meters). Guinness recognized it as the world’s longest water slide ridden on an inner tube or mat before it opened. A chair lift carries riders to the top, while the descent lasts four minutes.
