Also known as Halona Beach Cove, this Oahu locale has a cinematic allure—it’s where the movie From Here to Eternity filmed its famous kissing-in-the-surf scene. The scenic cove carved by ocean waves is a favorite spot for beachgoers to spend the day relaxing, snorkeling, and enjoying the ocean views.
The basics
Snorkeling tours often pick this spot due to its proximity to Honolulu, and its seclusion. Sea turtles can be spotted here on occasion, and you might be able to see humpback whales offshore during the winter months.

No lifeguards are on duty here. Only swim when the conditions are favorable.
There is a small parking lot above the beach.
No restroom facilities are available.
The parking lot and viewpoint are wheelchair accessible, but the path to the beach is not.
How to get there
If you’re coming from Waikiki, head east on H1 Highway (which turns into Highway 72) and follow directions to the Halona Blowhole Lookout. You can also take the bus to the Hanauma Bay Nature Reserve and walk to the beach from there.
When to get there
Oahu weather is suitable for beach days year-round, but the summer months typically have calm ocean conditions, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The parking lot has limited spaces, so arrive early in the day to ensure you get a spot.

Hanauma Bay State Park is just a short drive from Eternity Beach. You can hike to the Hanauma Bay lookout or along the Hanauma Bay Ridge Trail to take in the stunning ocean views. Sandy Beach is just a bit north of Eternity Beach, offering parking, restrooms, shower facilities, and sometimes a food truck.
