POINT OF INTEREST

Evergreen Maritime Museum

5th Floor, No. 11, Zhongshan S. Road , Zhongzheng, Taipei, Taiwan, 100

Dedicated to maritime history and innovations throughout the world, the Evergreen Maritime Museum is a popular destination for those with an interest in all things nautical. Spread across five floors in central Taipei’s Chang Yung-Fa Charity Foundation Building, the museum showcases model ships, paintings, interactive exhibits, and more.

The basics

Open since 2008, the Evergreen Maritime Museum is one of Taipei’s most distinctive cultural attractions. Its wide-ranging collection features model boats (which represent vessels from Britain, Thailand, the Arabian Peninsula, and beyond), historical artifacts, artworks, and beyond. Multimedia exhibitions help bring the history alive and cater to younger visitors, while the museum’s moving Titanic exhibition includes objects once owned by passengers on the ill-fated vessel.

Given its central location near many of Taipei’s key attractions–including Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall–the Evergreen Maritime Museum is easy to explore as part of an independent day out in the capital.

Things to know before you go

  • A cafe and a gift shop are on the first floor of the museum.
  • The Evergreen Maritime Museum is accessible to wheelchair users and travelers with limited mobility.
  • Exhibition placards are available in English, and English-language tours are available upon request.
