Flamingo Land

Part zoo, part theme park, and part resort, this 375-acre (152-hectare) attraction is a long-standing favorite of families, thrill seekers, and animal lovers in North Yorkshire, England. You can visit for the day, or book accommodation on-site. The park is home to 140 animal species and boasts around 40 rides across eight themed sections.
The basics
To explore the many zones at Flamingo Land, you’ll need to dedicate at least a full day. Take time to discover Riverside, Flamingo 1, Metropolis, Splosh!, Dino-Stone Park, the Lost Kingdom, Children’s Planet, and Muddy Duck Farm, as well as the sprawling zoo section. Adrenaline junkies shouldn’t miss Mumbo Jumbo, once the world’s steepest steel roller coaster, while families can ride the zoo monorail for an aerial glimpse of baboons, meerkats, and camels.
Things to know before you go
*Flamingo Land is wheelchair-accessible, though ride restrictions apply. *Accessible bathrooms and changing facilities are located throughout the park. *Wi-Fi hotspots are available in all six on-site restaurants. *Admission tickets can be purchased on the day or in advance; animal encounter experiences do not include entry.
How to get there
Located off the A169 just south of Pickering, Flamingo Land is easily reached by road and has a large parking lot at the entrance. The closest train station is in Malton, which connects directly to Leeds, York, and beyond. From Malton simply catch the 840 Coastliner bus service to the park entrance, a journey that takes around 20 minutes.
When to get there
Plan your visit around the many shows and educational opportunities at the zoo. Keeper Talks, Meet A Creature Sessions, and animal enrichment shows take place daily during high season. Check the schedule when you arrive, and then head to the meeting point to see your favorite animals up close and learn more about their conservation.
Bridlington Animal Park
Not far from Flamingo Land, family-owned Bridlington Animal Park is another must-see for nature lovers in Yorkshire. Just off the east coast, south of Flamborough, the immersive wildlife park offers meet and greets with owls, meerkats, and more—plus a regular program of talks, public feedings, and bird of prey flight displays.
