Folsom Field
Boulder, CO
Since 1924, Folsom Field has been the home of the Colorado Buffaloes football team. Named after University of Colorado coach Fred Folsom, the stadium seats more than 50,000 people, and also hosts concerts, graduations, and special events from its hilltop perch on the University of Colorado Boulder campus.
The basics
The best way to experience Folsom Field is to catch a live event there, especially home games of the University of Colorado Buffaloes football team. Get there early to take part in a tailgating event, then sit down to watch the action, as their biggest fans cheer on the home team. Visitors seated in the upper stands can also take in stunning views of the Rocky Mountain foothills, Flatirons, and the peaks of the Boulder Mountain Park.
Things to know before you go
Concessions are available at Folsom Field during games and events, and are all cashless. Leave your large bags at home; the stadium only allows small clutches and clear bags. Accessible seats are available, as well as accessible restrooms and ADA parking (with shuttle). A limited number of wheelchairs are also available. There is no re-entry during events at Folsom Field.
How to get there
Folsom Field is on the University of Colorado campus in Boulder. Take US-36 to the intersection with Colorado Avenue, then turn on Folsom Avenue until Stadium Drive, where you’ll find the parking garage (with public parking on the first level). Special rules apply for game-day parking.
When to get there
The Colorado Buffaloes football season typically runs from early September to the end of November. Arrive early on game days to get a parking spot on campus, which is very limited. Parking lots open six hours before kick-off, while gates and concessions open two hours before. Concerts are held at Folsom Field over the summer, while other events are held from time to time.
Top views at Folsom Field
For the best view of the mountains that backdrop the stadium, grab a seat in the upper bleachers or club level on the west side of the stadium, or head up to the rooftop terrace before or after games to enjoy the views. For the best views of Ralphie, the team’s live buffalo mascot, leading the team out to the field, sit in section 119, 120, or 121.
