Forum Park (Parc del Forum)
Carrer de la Pau, 12, Sant Adrià de Besòs, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08930
Located along the northern coast of Barcelona, the sprawling Forum Park (Parc del Fòrum) is a massive waterfront event-and-leisure complex. Built in 2004 for the Universal Forum of Cultures, it features a museum, marina, solar farm, sheltered swimming area, and outdoor and indoor venues for concerts, festivals, trade shows, and conventions.
The Basics
Forum Park can accommodate up to 65,000 people at a time, making it ideal for large concerts, music festivals, and conventions. Venues include the 904,168-square-foot (84,000-square-meter) Esplanade, the Barcelona International Convention Center, and the Parc dels Auditoris open-air concert venue. Although many people visit to attend an event, the area is worth exploring on its own, with attractions that include the Barcelona Museum of Natural Sciences, housed in the iconic triangular Forum building; a number of unique, urban installations; and a sand-free, sheltered swimming area.
Explore Forum Park independently or opt for a Segway tour of the city and explore other seaside attractions such as Barceloneta and the Olympic Port. Visit on a hop-on hop-off bus tour and explore other popular city attractions at your leisure.
Things to Know Before You Go
Forum Park is suitable for architecture fans and families.
The sheltered swimming area is ideal for families with children as well as wheelchair users, who can use a ramp to the water in an amphibious chair.
Don’t forget your camera, as the area offers stunning Mediterranean views.
How to Get There
Forum Park is located in the Diagonal Mar area of Barcelona. Well served by public transport, it can be reached by metro (line 4) to El Maresme/Forum, the tram to the Forum stop, or buses 7, 33, and 141.
When to Get There
Forum Park can be visited year-round. The swimming area is open from May to September. Different events are held here from time to time, including the Barcelona Feria de Abril in April, the popular Primavera Sound Festival in late May to early June, and the Festival Cruilla in July.
Barcelona Museum of Natural Sciences
The Barcelona Museum of Natural Sciences (Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona) is devoted to natural history. Its permanent exhibition, Planet Life, covers the history of life on Earth and features over 4,500 items, including rocks and minerals, fossils, dinosaur skeletons, and more. In addition to the exhibition area, there’s a children’s discovery zone, a small Mediterranean garden, and a café.
