The Basics

History comes to life at Fossils Galore, where kids can try their hand at panning for “gold,” fossil and crystal finding, and hunting for hidden Dinosaur eggs. In and among the displays of crystals and fossils, you’ll also find informative and interactive exhibits, as well as an on-site gallery, café, and gift shop. And on the second floor, watch as the team readies Jurassic and Ice Age bones and artifacts for display in the preparation laboratory.

How to Get There

Situated in the town of March, just a 30-minute drive from Peterborough, Fossils Galore is easy to access by both private vehicle and public transport. The closest train station is March, which is just a 20-minute walk from the center itself. There’s also plenty of nearby streetside parking available.

When to Get There

Fossils Galore is typically open Monday–Saturday, and there are sometimes one-off events held at the center on Sundays. To take advantage of all the activities and exhibits on offer at Fossils Galore, plan to spend at least a couple of hours there.

An hour’s drive from Fossils Galore, Thetford Forest Park is a fantastic family-friendly outdoor space with an arboretum, Go Ape rope course, and plenty more to explore. Meanwhile, Peterborough’s Nene Valley Railway has picnic areas, playgrounds, and steam train rides to keep all the family entertained.
