Fresno Art Museum
2233 N First St, Fresno, CA, 93703
Thriving for more than 70 years in Fresno, this art museum houses a variety of modern and contemporary pieces, and honors the diverse cultures that have shaped the San Joaquin Valley. Alongside the permanent collection of over 3,600 works, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, and films.
The basics
Some of the categories of artwork you’ll see at the museum, in terms of time period and geography, are 20th- and 21st-century painting, sculpture, and photography; ancient Mesoamerican art; and modern and folk art with Mexican roots. Many visitors choose to visit independently, but you can also join a Fresno art tour that explores the museum, and gain more context and insight from a guide.
Things to know before you go
The Fresno Art Museum is wheelchair accessible.
Families will be happy to know children 4 and under are free, though bear in mind that toddlers may not love walking through the museum.
Admission is free on the first and third Sundays of the month, when the museum is open; just be aware these days can get very crowded.
