Haigh’s Chocolates Visitor Centre
153 Greenhill Road, Parkside, Adelaide, South Australia, 5063
An Adelaide original, Haigh’s has been crafting chocolate since 1915 and is still family-owned today. At their factory, just south of Adelaide city center, the Haigh’s Chocolate Visitor Centre offers free tours plus the chance to shop Haigh’s specialties, from truffles and liqueurs to their signature chocolate frogs.
The basics
Fun but informative, the short tours here take you through the journey from bean to bar and let you watch Haigh’s staff putting the finishing touches on novelty animals, gourmet chocolates, and much more. At around 1,600 square feet (150 square meters), the Visitor Centre shop offers something for almost every taste, including gluten-free and egg-free options. Needless to say, it’s a popular stop on Adelaide food tours.

Adelaide for Foodies
South Australia’s fertile soil yields spectacular produce, not to mention wine and beer. The world-class Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale wine regions are within an hour’s drive of the city, while the Fleurieu Peninsula yields artisan cheese and chocolate. Within Adelaide proper, don’t miss Adelaide Central Market, a historic farmer’s market. Take the chance to sample native Australian ingredients at Red Ochre, and consider a tour of the city’s vibrant laneway bars.
