Hartley's Crocodile Adventures

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures introduces visitors to Australia’s most famous reptiles (and other native species) through an informative and educational day out. Visitors can observe crocs on a cruise through a lagoon mimicking the creatures’ natural habitat and learn how crocodiles are sustainably farmed.

The Basics

An admission ticket to Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures grants access to all the park’s wildlife displays and presentations, plus a boat ride on Hartley’s Lagoon. An optional upgrade includes breakfast with a koala and its keeper from a restaurant overlooking the lagoon, while combo tickets pair admission to Hartley’s with a trip to Port Douglas, a ride on the Kuranda Scenic Railway, or a visit to the Tjapukai Cultural Park.

  • Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is a hit with families traveling with kids.

  • Most of the park is wheelchair accessible, and wheelchairs are available to use for free at the admissions office.

  • Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sun protection.

  • Park facilities include a cafe and gift shop.

How to Get There

Hartley’s is just off the Captain Cook Highway, 7 miles (10 km) north of Palm Cove. The easiest way to get there is by private car or a guided tour that includes transportation, although some tourist buses that make the journey from Cairns stop in Palm Cove.

When to Get There

Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is open every day throughout the year except Christmas Day and the day of the Cairns Iron Man. Many of the attractions are outdoors, so plan to visit on a clear day (April to September is best).

Even More Crocodile

While the live crocodiles are the main attraction at Hartley’s, visitors can also purchase crocodile products made using sustainable, government-approved practices at the Hartley’s Creek Crocodile Farm. The Croctique sells crocodile skin leather goods, while adventurous eaters can sample a crocodile burger at Lilies Restaurant.
