Munich's Tierpark Hellabrunn, one of the largest zoos in Europe, offers a range of opportunities for encountering animals, from a petting zoo with goats and deer to a “polarium” with penguins and polar bears. Hellabrunn Zoo is open daily, with slightly shortened hours during the winter months. Visitors who are interested in animal feedings may want to check the zoo's website for the scheduled time for elephant, tiger, and polar bear feedings. It's also possible to plan to see training sessions for sea lions and birds of prey.
