Henry VII Experience at Micklegate Bar
Micklegate, York, Yorkshire, YO1 6JX
Housed inside one of York’s main medieval gateways, the Henry VII Experience documents the rise and reign of England’s first Tudor king. Exhibits cover Henry VII’s ascension, from snatching the throne from Richard III on the battlefield to quieting the Yorkist rebellion, as well as information on York at the time of his reign.
The basics
The Henry VII Experience is designed to be self-guided, and entry is included with select York sightseeing passes. Book admission in advance or pay at the door; general admission includes access to both the Henry VII Experience at Micklegate Bar and the Richard III Experience at Monk Bar, a companion attraction chronicling the rule of Henry VII’s predecessor. History enthusiasts can opt for combination tickets that include entry to the Richard III and Henry VII experiences along with other history-themed attractions in York, such as Barley Hall and Jorvik Viking Centre.
