Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Hong Kong Science Museum is committed to educating the public about science, technology, and astronomy. The museum offers a wealth of learning opportunities, including daily live demonstrations, interactive exhibits, science films, and lectures, and is a fun and educational day out for the whole family.

The Basics

Most of the sprawling museum’s 500 permanent exhibits are hands-on and cover topics from robotics and virtual reality to food science. Don’t miss the 72-foot-high (22-meter-high) twin-tower Energy Museum, which when set in motion produces spectacular audio-visual effects demonstrating various forms of energy. Other highlights include a DC-3 airplane, a flight simulator, and the Science Theater. There’s also a Children’s Gallery on the top floor.

How to Get There

The Hong Kong Science Museum is located in Tsim Sha Tsui. Take the MTR to Tsim Sha Tsui Station (exit P2) and walk for about 10 minutes, to Jordan Station (exit D) and walk for about 20 minutes, or to Hung Hom Station (exit D1) and walk for about 15 minutes. A number of buses, including buses 5, 8, 13, 26, 28, 35A, 41A, 973, A20, and A21, also stop at the museum.

When to Get There

The Hong Kong Science Museum is open daily, except for Thursdays (unless it’s a public holiday) and the first two days of Chinese New Year. Free entry is offered on Wednesdays. The box office closes one hour before closing time.

Children’s Gallery

The Children’s Gallery, designed specifically for young children, encourages them to use their imagination and to cooperate and complete missions together. Designed for age groups 2–7 and 5–12, there are 10 different exhibits, including Time Tower and Hidden Animals.
