Hotel Unique
Avenida Brigadeiro Luis Antonio 4700, Jardim Paulista, São Paulo, Southeast Brazil, 01402-002
One of São Paulo’s most storied hotels, the Hotel Unique certainly lives up to its name. Designed by architect Ruy Ohtake as a ship-like building (though some compare it to a watermelon), the hotel’s striking appearance continues indoors. Its rooftop pool and restaurant, Skye, are popular among both guests and visitors.
The basics
Situated within the well-heeled neighborhood of Jardim Paulista, Hotel Unique has been a buzzy destination for glamorous jetsetters since first opening in 2002. One of architect Ruy Ohtake’s best-known buildings (with interiors by designer João Armentano), the hotel has a nautical theme inside and out. Some of its must-see features include the vibrant Body‘n Soul fitness center (complete with spa room and two heated pools that feature a waterslide entrance); its lobby Wall bar (stocking hundreds of bottles of spirits); and its rooftop, which features an Instagram-ready red-tiled pool.
The Hotel Unique, with 84 rooms and 10 suites, is one of São Paulo’s most premium hotels. Some areas of the buidling are accessible to non-guests, including the Wall, as well as Skye and the hotel spa room (with an appointment or reservation).
Things to know before you go

The hotel operates select rooms for wheelchair users and guests with disabilities.

Sunset is a particularly nice time to admire the 360-degree views overlooking São Paulo from the hotel’s rooftop—where a resident DJ spins every evening.
Room service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Cats and small dogs (under 44 pounds, or 20 kilograms) are welcome to accompany you at the hotel.
