Jackson Hole Mountain Resort

Best known for its steep slopes and gorgeous views, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort boasts one of the largest vertical drops in US skiing. Notorious for its extreme ungroomed terrain, the mountain also features fantastic beginner and intermediate runs. During the summer months, the resort turns into an outdoor adventurer’s playground, with mountain bike trails, scenic tram rides, and an exhilarating via ferrata course.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort operates eight chairlifts and a gondola, along with its famed red aerial tram. Lessons are available for skiers and riders of all levels, with backcountry camps for skiers looking to learn about avalanche awareness. The resort also offers cross-country skiing and snowshoeing tours into nearby Grand Teton National Park.

During the summer months, there are outdoor activities for all ages and abilities. Kids will enjoy the ropes course, climbing wall, and bungee trampoline at the base of the mountain. Mountain bikers will find everything from beginner to expert terrain. You can also take a tram or gondola ride to access high-altitude hiking trails for incredible panoramas of the Jackson Hole area.

The Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is located in Teton Village, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) northwest of downtown. Buses run from Jackson to the resort during both summer and winter. A free shuttle bus also runs from the Stilson Lot, about 7 miles (11 kilometers) from Teton Village. Paid parking is available at the resort during the ski season.

Ski season generally runs from Thanksgiving through early April, while summer activities are open from late May through September. Lift lines can get crowded, so try to avoid the resort on the weekends, holidays, and around the Presidents' Day long weekend (the third Monday in February). On powder days, make sure to get to the resort at least 30 minutes before it opens.

Taking a ride on Jackson Hole’s Aerial Tram is by far the most popular activity at the resort. In just 12 minutes, the tram whisks riders up 4,139 feet (1,260 meters) for incredible panoramic views of the Jackson Hole valley. Tram rides are offered in both the summer and winter, and you won’t want to miss Corbet’s Cabin’s waffles at the summit.
