Jamestown Glasshouse

1348 Colonial National Historical Parkway, Williamsburg, Virginia

Discover the art of glassblowing, as it was done centuries ago, at the Jamestown Glasshouse. Part of the Colonial National Historic Park, Jamestown Glasshouse is a recreation of a colonial-era glasshouse, complete with costumed artisans and interpreters who create glass products by hand, using traditional tools and techniques.

Jamestown Glasshouse is located near the original Jamestown settlement. Visit to see the remains of furnaces used by early glassblowers and watch a glassmaking demonstration. As part of the demo, modern glassblowers make one-of-a-kind period reproductions and contemporary pieces, such as wine glasses, vases, and candleholders, using the same techniques and tools as those used by colonial glassblowers. Additional interpreters are available to provide background information and answer questions.

National Park Pass holders receive discounted entry. Week-long combo tickets are available, which include entry to a number of historic sites nearby, such as Historic Jamestowne, Yorktown Battlefield, Jamestown Settlement, the American Revolution Museum, and Colonial Williamsburg.

  • Admission to Jamestown Glasshouse is included in the Colonial National Historical Park fee.

  • The on-site gift shop offers handmade glass products for sale.

  • Jamestown Glasshouse is wheelchair accessible.

Jamestown Glasshouse is located between the Jamestown Settlement and Historic Jamestowne on Jamestown Island. It’s easiest to drive there, taking the Colonial Parkway. Parking is available on-site.

Jamestown Glasshouse is open daily, with holiday closures for Thanksgiving, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. There are several entrance fee-free days per year, including for the start of National Park Week, National Public Lands Day, and Veterans Day.

Historic Jamestowne, on Jamestown Island, is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. There are ongoing excavations as part of the Jamestown Rediscovery archaeology program to discover the site of the earliest fortified town on the island. Visitors can find exhibits at the Visitor Center and the Archaearium archaeology museum on-site, or explore the natural environment along Island Loop Drive.
