Jan Becher Museum
57 T. G. Masaryka 282, Karlovy Vary, Bohemia, 360 01
The Jan Becher Museum is dedicated to one of the Czech Republic's most beloved drinks, Becherovka. Visitors can learn about the beverage, tour the distillery and the original cellars, and sample this herbal liqueur that has been produced for centuries. It’s made from a secret recipe based on more than 20 types of herbs and spices.
The basics
The museum is located in Karlovy Vary, Becherovka’s hometown, in the historic building that served as the original factory for more than 100 years. In the visitor’s center you can see vintage Becherovka bottles and unique items that belonged to the Becher family (inventors of the beverage) including their recipe book, awards, accounting books, and many other artifacts. The interactive part of the museum allows you to see and smell selected herbs and spices that make the base of the liqueur, taste the water from Karlovy Vary that is used in Becherovka, and experience the bottling line via a VR headset.
Several guided tours from Prague to Karlovy Vary include a stop at the Jan Becher Museum, helping you maximize your time by visiting multiple attractions in one day.
