How to get there

Janpath Market is located along Janpath Road, which runs south from Connaught Place in the heart of New Delhi. It’s easy to reach on foot if you’re staying in Connaught Place. The nearest metro stations are Janpath (on the violet line) and Rajiv Chowk (on the blue and yellow lines).

When to get there

Most of Janpath’s stores and stalls are open Monday through Saturday from morning until after dinnertime, and closed on Sundays. Evenings tend to be busier with locals, and you’ll get the best prices (and avoid big crowds) by coming in the morning; being the first customer of the day is considered auspicious, so you might get a discount just by showing up early.

How to haggle

When shopping at Janpath Market, don’t be afraid to haggle for a better price. This is expected, so never accept the first price you’re offered by a vendor, and always bid a little lower than you ultimately want to pay, so you can meet in the middle.
