Kamala Nehru Park

Named after Kamala Nehru, the wife of India's first prime minister, this park offers fantastic city views. It's an excellent place for an evening stroll and draws in families for its giant play structure shaped like a shoe (a nod to the nursery rhyme "There was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe").

Kamala Nehru Park and the adjacent Hanging Gardens have long been a favorite among residents of the upscale Malabar Hill neighborhood and visitors looking for a place to relax. It's also a popular spot among birders during the rainy monsoon season. Lots of Mumbai sightseeing tours include stops in the park, and it's a fantastic place to go if you have younger kids in tow.

How to get there
Kamala Nehru Park is located across from the Hanging Gardens, on top of South Mumbai's Malabar Hill. It's about a 15-minute walk to the park from Chowpatty Beach, and taxis and autorickshaws are abundant in the area. If you prefer to travel by train, you can take a train to Grant Road and walk to the park (which takes around half an hour) or take a taxi or auto rickshaw.
When to get there
The views from the park and the surrounding area are at their finest around sunset, and temperatures tend to be more pleasant as night falls. First thing in the morning is also a good time if you're trying to avoid the heat of the day—just be wary of mosquitoes during the more humid times of the year.
