Korean Folk Village

90, Minsokchon-ro, Giheung-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do

Travelers to Korean Folk Village can explore 250 acres of natural landscape, dotted with 260 replica houses from the Joseon Dynasty. Learn about traditional foods, handicrafts, and clothing while visiting the workshops and open-air attractions; take in a live performance; or treat the kids to the rides and craft workshops in Play Village.

The Basics

The Korean Folk Village offers a colorful look at the nation’s rich history and culture. A basic admission ticket provides access to the Folk Village. A Free Pass ticket adds entrance to Play Village with its kid-friendly rides and attractions; ferryboat and horseback rides, and some craft workshops, are extra. Many travelers combine a visit to the Korean Folk Village with a tour of Hwaseong Fortress on a day trip from Seoul.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Korean Folk Village is popular with families and first-time visitors to South Korea.

  • Pack a picnic lunch to bring with you; outside food and drink are permitted.

  • Audio guides in English, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese are available for rent.

  • The village is wheelchair accessible, and both stroller and wheelchair rentals are available on-site.

How to Get There

The easiest way to reach the Folk Village, if you’re not on a guided tour, is to take a bus from Seoul to Suwon Station, then catch the free shuttle to the village. The shuttle ride between Suwon Station and Korean Folk Village takes about 30 minutes.

When to Get There

The Korean Folk Village is open year-round, though hours change from season to season. Because many of the attractions are outdoors, it’s a good idea to visit on a clear day in spring or autumn.

Eating at the Korean Folk Village

Hungry travelers have a few opportunities to sample traditional Korean fare at the Korean Folk Village. The Bazaar serves about 20 local dishes, while Restaurant “Korea” specializes in upscale Korean cuisine. You’ll find traditional Korean comfort food in the shingle-roofed Restaurant Gilmokjib, or sit down for a cup of tea at the Traditional Cafe and Korean Herb Pharmacy.
