Once the world’s tallest building, Lincoln Cathedral remains one of England’s most significant religious landmarks, housing one of only four original Magna Carta manuscripts in the world. The Basics
Lincoln Cathedral, which visitors can explore independently or by way of guided tours, was originally commissioned by William the Conqueror in the 11th century. Access to the nave, services, and prayers at the Morning Chapel are free, but visitors can also pay a small fee to take a guided tour of the cathedral and learn secrets they might otherwise miss. Book tickets in advance for a stress-free day. Roof, tower, and library tours are also available.

Lincoln Cathedral is conveniently situated in the heart of the city, making it easily accessible on foot, as well as by public transport or private vehicle. There are many parking lots close to the cathedral, while the Steep Hill Shuttle and several other bus routes stop nearby.
When to Get There
Services run throughout the day at Lincoln Cathedral, which is typically open from early morning until evening Monday to Saturday, with shorter hours on Sunday. If you’d like to take a guided tour, plan to visit any day except Sunday, when no tours are offered. Note that cathedral access can sometimes be restricted due to special events.
