POINT OF INTEREST

Lindquist Beach

St Thomas, US Virgin Islands, 00802

Located on the east end of St. Thomas and part of the protected Smith Bay Park, Lindquist Beach is one of the island's prettiest and most pristine beaches. Featuring a lovely stretch of white sand dusted with just a hint of pink, it’s an ideal beach for relaxing, sunbathing, swimming, snorkeling, and escaping the crowds.

The basics

You can soak up the sun and views of the offshore cays, relax under the sea grape and coconut trees on either side of the beach, swim and snorkel in the calm, crystal clear waters, and look for birds and other wildlife. Bring a picnic to enjoy on the beach. You can visit Lindquist Beach on your own or as part of a St. Thomas sightseeing and beach hopping tour or on a private boat charter.

Things to know before you go

  • You'll pay a parking and entrance fee to access Lindquist Beach, with free entry for children under 13.

  • Amenities include lifeguards, picnic tables, restrooms, showers, and beach chair rentals.

  • Bring food and drinks with you as there are no food concessions.

  • Two sheds on the beach are available for rent for parties and events.

How to get there

Lindquist Beach is on the east end of St. Thomas off Smith Bay Road. Look for signs for Smith Bay Park. There’s a paid parking lot on-site. It’s easy to take a taxi from anywhere on the island. You can also visit Lindquist Beach on a sightseeing or beach-hopping tour of St. Thomas.

When to get there

Lindquist Beach rarely gets too crowded, except for weekends and holidays, when it becomes a popular local hangout spot for picnics and parties, especially on Sundays. Visit on a weekday and earlier in the morning for a quieter experience. Visit between December and June for the nicest weather.

East end attractions

The east end of St. Thomas is home to several other scenic beaches, including Coki Beach and Sapphire Beach, which offer a livelier atmosphere and more amenities and watersport rentals.
