Maremagnum
Moll d'Espanya, 5, Barcelona, Catalonia, 08039
Framed by the curving waves of the Rambla de Mar walkway in Barcelona’s Port Vell (Old Port) is the striking mirrored frontage of Maremagnum mall. Housing over 40 different shops and restaurants, the shopping center offers both homegrown originals and international chains such as Mango and Victoria’s Secret.
The basics
Spread across three floors in the heart of the lively Port Vell area, Maremagnum is a popular mid-range shopping destination for locals and tourists, particularly on Sundays when many other shops are closed. Stores span the gamut from kitchenware to sunglasses, while eats encompass everything from Dunkin’ to tapas.
Most sailing tours get a good look at Port Vell and Maremagnum, while Segway tours are likely to roll past here, too. If you want to shop, though, you’ll want to visit independently.
Things to know before you go
Maremagnum is wheelchair-accessible, with accessible bathrooms in the parking lot and the mall proper.
Some stores and eateries may have different opening hours from the rest of the mall. Check ahead if visiting on a Sunday or towards the start or end of the day.
The Maremagnum parking lot has paid spots. Some spaces are accessible for travelers with disabilities, and there’s charging for electric cars and motorbikes.
How to get there
Maremagnum is in Port Vell on Barcelona’s coastline. It’s at the end of the Rambla de Mar, an approximate 5-minute walk from the Columbus Monument. The best Metro stations are Drassanes (Line 3), a 10-minute walk, and Barceloneta (Line 4), a 15-minute walk.
When to get there
The majority of shops in Barcelona close on Sundays, but Maremagnum stays open seven days a week. It’s busiest on weekend afternoons, so plan to visit in the morning or midweek.
Maremagnum Rooftop Market
In 2024, Maremagnum is set to open Europe’s second Time Out Market concept after Lisbon, converting its 55,000-square-foot (5,200-square-meter) rooftop into a hub of food, beverage, and culture. It will offer dramatic views across Port Vell, the Mediterranean, and the city while showcasing Spanish and Catalan cuisine at restaurants, stalls, and even cooking classes.
