POINT OF INTEREST

Marina Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, 23453

The Marina Cabo San Lucas is a top attraction for visitors and locals alike. It’s a swanky place to keep your yacht or the go-to spot to hire a boat charter for fishing or other water-based activities. You can book dolphin tours, parasailing, diving, and more from the Marina. There’s also a boardwalk for strolling and people-watching, plus some excellent hotels, restaurants, and bars.

The basics

There’s plenty to do at the Marina Cabo San Lucas, from wandering around the docks admiring the gorgeous yachts to having cocktails at Nowhere Bar well into the night. Do some shopping at Puerto Paraiso Mall or nearby luxury boutiques for souvenirs or for yourself.

Fishing boats bring their hauls back to the docks, and you can see the fresh catch that might end up on your plate later in the day. There are tons of restaurants to choose from in the marina, so you’ll be spoiled for choice.

Things to know before you go

  • The sun shines hot in Cabo, so wear hats and protect your skin from its rays.

  • Be sure to stay hydrated. Even if you’re not up all night at Senor Frog’s slamming tequila shots, you still need to make sure to consume plenty of water.

  • Cabo is famous for its party scene, but there is a real side to Cabo, where locals go about their daily business, which you can explore, too.

How to get there

It’s not hard to get to Cabo. Several international airlines fly from all over the world. Once you get to the airport, you can hail a taxi to the marina or arrange for a private driver to pick you up. The promenade at the marina itself is walkable and takes around a half hour to complete. While there, find your favorite restaurant and relax with a margarita.

When to get there

There are activities going on all year in Cabo, so check the events’ schedule when planning your visit. Winter in Cabo is the most crowded, when people flock from colder climates to enjoy the heat. The summers are often stormy, so it is best to avoid those months. Try for May or June, when the tourists have left, but the weather is still nice.

The quieter San Jose del Cabo

If you want a break from the busy Cabo San Lucas, head over to San Jose del Cabo for a day trip or even spend the night. It’s a much more laid-back feel, but it’s not for backpackers, either. There are plenty of spots for sipping craft brews, boutique art galleries to browse in, and plenty of good food to try, and it’s just a half hour from Cabo San Lucas.
