Mercado Roma
C. Querétaro 225, Mexico City, Mexico, 06700
As Mexico City’s first gourmet food market, classic Mexican dishes—think tacos and tamales—are given a modern twist at Mercado Roma. In the sophisticated Roma neighborhood, the market features communal tables where you can feast on everything from artisanal Mexican cheese to Spanish tapas and high-end ice creams. It’s the ultimate place to sample stylish street food in CDMX.
The basics
Vendors at Mercado Roma rotate regularly, but you can guarantee that stalls will sell top-quality food. The market is a highlight of Roma neighborhood tours; some walking tours take you to the best street art, while others focus entirely on the food and reveal the best places to try everything from mezcal to mole. Other sightseeing tours combine Roma with the leafy neighborhood of La Condesa, famous for its quirky cafés and green space.

The best food markets in CDMX
If Mercado Roma has whet your appetite, tick off more of CDMX’s best markets. One of the capital’s most famous is Mercado Coyoacán, in the neighborhood that Frida Kahlo and Diego Riviera used to call home. Nearby, you’ll also find Mercado de Antojitos, which translates as the “Market of Little Cravings”. Both offer a delicious range of street food snacks.
