The market is a highlight of Roma neighborhood tours; some walking tours take you to the best street art, while others focus entirely on the food and reveal the best places to try everything from mezcal to mole. Other sightseeing tours combine Roma with the leafy neighborhood of La Condesa, famous for its quirky cafés and green space.

How to get there

Mercado Roma is on Calle Querétaro 225 in the upscale neighborhood of Roma. The nearest subway station is Sevilla on Line 1; it’s a 20-minute walk from the street food hub. You can also take bus number 2 and disembark at Querétaro, just moments from the market.

When to get there

While Mercado Roma is open from the early afternoon through to the late evening, vendors can follow their own opening hours. It’s typically busiest from 7pm and during the weekends when tourists and locals flock here to drink wine and soak up the buzz from the breezy rooftop patio.
