Miami Trolley

FL

Traveling by trolley is a fun way to explore Miami, Miami Beach, and beyond. Even better, in most neighborhoods, a ride on a Miami trolley is free, making it easy to keep costs down and skip the hassle of driving and tackling the city's notorious traffic. Here's what you need to know about navigating Miami’s trolley system.

The most useful trolley for visitors to Miami is likely the free Miami Beach Trolley, which has four routes that run around the South Beach, Mid-Beach, and North Beach neighborhoods and which makes stops at Collins Avenue, Lincoln Road, Miami Beach Botanical Garden, and North Beach Bandshell. The free City of Miami Trolley is another popular one with visitors, taking riders around downtown Miami and Brickell and to such neighborhoods as Wynwood and the Design District.

The Coral Gables Trolley can take you to the Coral Gables Museum and the Miracle Mile and Downtown Coral Gables shopping district. Additionally, the free Doral Trolley is handy for those staying near the airport, and the City of Miami Gardens offers three free trolley routes with stops at Sun Life Stadium, St. Thomas University, and Miami Gardens City Hall.

  • The Miami Trolley is a fun and convenient way to get around, suitable for all.

  • Trolleys are air-conditioned and comfortable to ride in.

  • Free Wi-Fi is available on board.

Check your route online before setting out—it’s a good idea to download the Miami Trolley app or check the Miami-Dade Transport Tracker. Then, wait at one of the marked trolley stops on the street where the trolley will pick you up.

The trolleys typically start up between 6am and 7am and run throughout the day at 15 minute intervals, until late evening or night—the Miami Beach Trolley runs until midnight. For special events, such as Miami Heat games and Art Basel, hours are often extended.

The Miami Beach Trolley’s Mid-Beach loop operates along 41st Street and Collins Avenue and will get you to the Collins Park area of the city. This is where you’ll find such cultural centers as The Bass contemporary art museum, Miami Beach Convention Center, and Miami City Ballet. It’s also where many events take place for the yearly Art Basel fair (generally in early December).
