Many Athens sightseeing tours feature a stop in this natural cove for a stroll along the seaside promenade or a panoramic meal with views of the sea. Mikrolimano is particularly captivating after sunset, making the harbor a popular destination for scenic night tours.

• The two top things to do in Mikrolimano are walking and dining outdoors, so wear a hat and sunscreen when visiting.

• Be sure to make restaurant reservations in advance at this popular seaside dining destination or you may not find any available tables.

• The paved seaside promenade is accessible to strollers and wheelchairs; some of the restaurants have steps at the entrance.

How to get there

Mikrolimano is located in Piraeus, about five miles from the Acropolis in Athens. To get there, take the metro to Piraeus and then the #20 trolley to Mikrolimano and go down the set of stairs until you reach the harbor. Alternatively, join a hop-on-hop-off bus tour or private driving tour that stops at the port.

When to get there

Though postcard-ready at all times of day, this dining and imbibing hot spot is particularly romantic from sunset into the late evening. Early birds can catch the fishing boats coming in and out of the marina, while afternoon visitors can watch as pleasure boats cruise to shore to moor for the night.
