POINT OF INTEREST

Mirador Torre Glòries

Av. Diagonal, 209, Barcelona, Spain, 08018

Inspired by a geyser, though likened to a gherkin, Mirador Torre Glòries is one of Barcelona’s tallest landmarks at 470 feet (143 meters). Designed by architect Jean Nouvel, it’s also one of the city’s most famous contemporary attractions. In 2022, it opened as an observation deck and art space, and is now one of the best places to soak up views of the Catalan capital.

The basics

There are three parts to the Mirador Torre Glòries experience. The Observation Deck offers 360-degree views of all the city’s top landmarks; Hyperview Barcelona is an immersive space that combines art and technology; and Cloud Cities is a multi-sensory art installation by Tomás Saraceno. General admission covers the viewing platform and Hyperview, but you need to pay extra to access Saraceno’s sculpture. Hop-on, hop-off sightseeing buses stop near the attraction, and entry is included on some Barcelona passes. Book a skip-the-line ticket for extra convenience.

Things to know before you go

  • An elevator whisks you to the top of the building, so it’s accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

  • Admission is discounted for seniors, students, and children.

  • There’s a gift shop for tote bags, books, and other souvenirs.

  • Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.

  • You can download a free audio guide using an online app, which comes in 10 different languages; bring your headphones.

How to get there

It’s easy to reach Mirador Torre Glòries by public transportation. The nearest metro station is Glòries, on the red Line 1. Buses 7, H12, 192, V23, and X1 all stop outside the building, while trams T4, T5, and T6 also stop nearby. You can also take the hop-on, hop-off bus.

When to get there

From April through October, Mirador Torre Glòries is open daily from mid-morning to night. From October through March, it opens 30 minutes earlier in the morning and closes 2.5 hours earlier in the evening. A visit to the tower usually lasts just under an hour. It’s closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day.

The best views in Barcelona

Mirador Torre Glòries isn’t the only place for stellar views of Barcelona. You can also head to the top of Antoni Gaudí’s UNESCO–listed masterpiece the Sagrada Familia, or enjoy city panoramas from the summit of Montjuïc Mountain, which hosted the 1992 Olympic Games.
