The basics
After navigating the streets of Bangkok and touring temples, markets, parks, and food stalls, head up to the Moon Bar for a sophisticated cocktail (or mocktail) and see the city from above. Day tours often incorporate a stop here, though it’s not difficult to find this spot on your own. The Moon Bar shares its space with Vertigo restaurant, which is known for imported steaks and seafood. Groups can be difficult to accommodate, so think about heading there by yourself or with just a few buddies.

- The dress code is smart casual, so save your bikinis and flip-flops for the beach.
- The rooftop closes when it rains, so keep that in mind.
- The bar is accessible by a fast elevator, allowing everyone a chance to see the views.
How to get there
It depends on where you’re coming from. If you’re backpacking in the Khao San Road area, then hop in a taxi or use the Grab rideshare service. If you’re in other areas of the city where public transportation is more readily available, use that and then walk a little ways to the Banyan Tree Bangkok and take the elevator up to the 60th floor.
When to get there
Bangkok is huge, and the views from the Moon Bar are impressive at any time of the day. The sunset is something special, however. That said, you won’t be the only one showing up for the soft evening light. The bar opens at 5pm and closes at 1am, so that’s your window for sipping cocktails at the Moon Bar Bangkok.
