Navarre Beach
Gulf Blvd, Navarre, FL, 32566
Hailed as “Florida’s most relaxing place”, Navarre Beach is a stretch of white sand on Santa Rosa Island. This small town is not to be confused with the community of Navarre which lies opposite Navarre Beach across the Santa Rosa Sound. It’s a relaxed, family-friendly beach on the Gulf Coast providing a contrast to the livelier Destin and Pensacola Beaches.
The basics
Santa Rosa Island has miles of shoreline and Navarre Beach stands out as one of the most serene spots. You can’t launch watercraft or surf from the beach; it’s strictly a bathing beach. The fishing pier does allow you to drop a line, but you cannot fish from certain parts of the shoreline. Navarre Beach is ideal for families and beach bums who want a relaxed place to soak up the sun without venturing far from the Panhandle’s larger cities.
Things to know before you go
Navarre Beach Fishing Pier requires paid admission for walking and fishing.
Alcohol is allowed on Navarre Beach, but glass bottles are not.
These beaches are pet-free, so please keep dogs off of the sand.
How to get there
Navarre Beach is on Santa Rosa Island between Destin and Pensacola. Regardless of where you’re coming from, you’ll take Highway 98 to County Road 399, also called Gulf Boulevard in Navarre Beach. The closest airports are Destin-Fort Walton Beach Airport (VPS) 25 miles (40 kilometers) away and Pensacola International (PNS), 30 miles (48 kilometers) away.
When to get there
Navarre Beach is a Panhandle Beach, which means it is a popular getaway for Florida and Alabama locals; however, it’s not as crowded as nearby Destin and Pensacola Beaches. You don’t need to rush to find a spot on these laid-back sands, though expect to see more beach umbrellas between April and September.
Visit Navarre Beach Marine Park
The Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center is a new public education center that encourages humans to consider how their environmental actions impact sea turtle populations. The center offers multiple paid experiences such as a shark tooth treasure hunt, seashell school, and honorary animal care team member program.
