Sitting just north of Perth’s central business district (CBD, Northbridge is the city’s main cultural precinct and one of its top dining and nightlife districts. From the museums and theaters of the Perth Cultural Centre to the many restaurants and bars, not to mention Perth’s tiny Chinatown, Northbridge draws locals and visitors looking for an evening of entertainment.

Northbridge is easy to visit during a day of sightseeing in central Perth, whether you’re on your own or with a guide. See the neighborhood on foot during a food or pub walking tour, or if you prefer independent exploration, book a hop-on hop-off tour and get off at the Perth Cultural Centre stop. How to get there

Northbridge is a 10- to 20-minute walk from the CBD, or it can be reached via public transport from Perth train station, just across Roe Street.

When to get there

The neighborhood is liveliest in the evening when locals dine out, take in a show, or hit the bars. Afternoons are popular, too, for those visiting the museums and other cultural venues. The Art Gallery of Western Australia is closed on Tuesday; Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts is closed on Monday.

Perth Cultural Centre

Many of the most important cultural and educational institutions in Western Australia are part of the Perth Cultural Centre, including the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the State Library of Western Australia, the Western Australian Museum, the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts, and the Blue Room Theatre. Exhibits and events take place throughout the year, providing a variety of ways to enjoy film screenings, live theater, installations, and Aboriginal and European art.
