Oaklands Mansion

900 N Maney Ave., Murfreesboro, Tennessee

The Oaklands Mansion is a plantation home and museum in Murfreesboro, outside of Nashville. Learn about the Maney family, who lived here before and during the Civil War; see the rooms, decorated as they would have been over a century ago; and enjoy the arboretum, lush trails, and heritage gardens.

Nashville visitors looking for a historic perspective on the area will enjoy the 200-year-old Oaklands Mansion. An ideal day trip from Nashville, the mansion offers a free guided tour of the building and a self-guided tour of the grounds. Pre-book your ticket, and combine a trip to the mansion with a stop at Stones River National Battlefield, the site of one of the bloodiest Civil War battles.

  • History enthusiasts shouldn't miss Oaklands Mansion, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

  • Oaklands Mansion is relatively affordable compared to other plantation museums.

  • The grounds are free and open to the public, but there is a fee to enter the mansion itself.

Located about an hour's drive from downtown Nashville, the Oaklands Mansion is easiest to reach by car. Take Interstate 24 (I-24) from Nashville to exit 78B, and merge onto TN-96 East/Old Fort Parkway toward Murfreesboro. The mansion is at 900 North Maney Avenue, next to Oaklands Park.

The Oaklands Mansion is open Tuesday through Sunday, except for major holidays. Mansion tours are held throughout the day, until mid-afternoon. Check the calendar for seasonal events, such as Oktoberfest celebrations and Christmas Candlelight Tours.

Oaklands Mansion is conveniently situated in verdant Oaklands Park. After your mansion tour, wander the 31-acre grounds at your leisure, and visit the park's 300-year-old white oak. The towering tree, which stands at more than 100 feet tall, is located just beyond the pavilion, on the south side of the park.
