Florida’s largest urban park is in Miami, offering over 1,000 acres (400 hectares for a range of outdoor activities from cycling to kayaking and fishing. Oleta River State Park is home to rugged trails, mangrove-spotted coastlines, and a 1,200-foot (350-meter sandy beach. The park is best known as a destination for cyclists, with 3 miles (5 kilometers of simple paved paths and 10 miles (15 kilometers of off-road trails.

There are many activities available in this state park: from navigating through waterways in a kayak or a canoe to hiking along nature trails or barbecuing outdoors. Kayaks, canoes, stand-up paddleboards and mountain bikes are available to rent. While there are many options for outdoor adventure seekers, Oleta River State Park is just as popular for family picnics and sunbathing on the beach. Some Miami boat tours pass by the state park.

Oleta River State Park is located in North Miami Beach. Most visitors arrive by car and parking is available. Arriving on foot or by bicycle are alternative options, while you can also reach the park by public transportation: ride the 105 or 108 bus lines.

The park is open 365 days per year from 8am until sundown. The weekends are the most popular time; to avoid crowds, plan a visit on a weekday. Expect some noise from picnics and barbecues on the weekends. Mornings are a particularly peaceful time to visit.

Visitors who wish to stay overnight in the state park can choose between camping and cabin rentals and reservations can be made online or by phone. Campsites have grills, picnic tables, and centralized restrooms. Rustic cabins are also available for rent.
