Parque Norte Medellín
Carrera 53, Medellín, Colombia
Wrapping around an artificial lake in northern Medellín, Parque Norte is an expansive theme park filled with rides and games for kids and adults alike. Attractions include mini bumper cars for little kids, a "prehistoric jungle" filled with massive replica dinosaurs, and a thrilling Kamikaze ride that slings visitors upside down and back again.
The basics
The park is arranged by theme, making it easy to focus on what sort of experience you want to have. To the right of the entrance, the Plazoleta Extrema is where you'll find the most thrilling rides, while the Plazoleta Fantasía has the highest concentration of attractions geared toward little ones. Food kiosks and restaurants are found across the park, so you won't have to do a lot of back-and-forth.
Things to know before you go
Parque Norte Medellín is ideal for families looking for a fun place to spend the day.
You aren't allowed to bring food, drinks, or glass bottles into the park, but there are plenty of places to buy refreshments.
Lockers are available for a fee.
You can buy "rain insurance" when you purchase your ticket, which will allow you to exchange your admission for another day in case of a downpour.
How to get there
Parque Norte is just west of the Medellín Botanical Garden in the northern part of the city, between Carreras 52 and 53. You can take line A of the metro to the Universidad station, or opt for a taxi or rideshare. Car and motorcycle parking is also available, for a fee.
When to get there
Parque Norte Medellín is open Tuesday–Saturday from morning to early evening. It's typically closed on Mondays, except on public holidays, when it remains open. If a public holiday falls on a Monday, the park closes the following Tuesday for maintenance. Arrive first thing in the morning to make the most of your time, and consider a weekday visit if you want to avoid crowds.
Visiting Medellín Botanical Garden
A 10-minute walk east of Parque Norte will take you to Medellín Botanical Garden, a 40-acre (16-hectare) expanse with more than 5,000 plant species from across the Americas. Highlights include the Orquideorama, filled with orchids, and the Garden of the Palms, which showcases around 120 types of palm trees.
