POINT OF INTEREST

Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, 23453

Pedregal de Cabo San Lucas, the first luxury community of Cabo San Lucas, is still one of the city’s most exclusive neighborhoods. It’s home to numerous 5-star resorts, restaurants, shops, and a thriving nightlife scene—but the area’s best feature is arguably its expansive views of the marina and ocean, which you’ll see at every turn.

The Basics

Even if you’re not staying in Pedregal, you can still stroll through the area to admire the multi-million-dollar homes and take in the beachside views. Nearby Lovers Beach and Divorce Beach are popular spots for travelers, and tours leave the neighboring marina for the famous arched rock formation that’s located just off the coast from Pedregal. Another way to spy the luxury villas that sit on the cliffs of Pedregal is aboard a scenic dinner cruise.

Things to Know Before You Go

  • The Pedregal area is best suited for Cabo visitors looking for a more secluded, private resort atmosphere.

  • Pedregal hosts a farmers market with fruit, vegetables, seafood, pastries, other prepared foods, and handmade crafts.

  • Swimming in this area is dangerous due to strong rip currents.

  • Always drink bottled or purified water (hotels generally offer the latter); drinking directly from the tap is not recommended.

How to Get There

The Pedregal neighborhood is right next to the marina and downtown Cabo San Lucas. It’s about a 45-minute drive from Los Cabos International Airport, and 40 minutes down Highway 1 from San José del Cabo and the hotel zone. There are airport shuttle services and taxis available, plus many of the luxury resorts arrange transportation for guests.

When to Get There

The farmers market is open year round on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday mornings from 8am to noon. In general, the best months to visit Cabo are May and June, if you want to avoid the winter crowds.

The Arch of Cabo San Lucas

This often-photographed rock formation has become the iconic image of Cabo. Located at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, the Arch of Cabo San Lucas (El Arco) is the main attraction for many sailing tours around Land’s End—plus it’s right off the coast of the Pedregal area.
