Playa Paraiso
Tulum, Mexico
Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, just south of the Tulum Archaeological Site, Playa Paraiso (or Paradise Beach in English) is a lovely stretch of white sand dotted with palm trees that leads into turquoise waters. Vacationers come here to relax, snag a lounge chair at the beach club, and swim in the ocean.
The basics
Playa Paraiso is an excellent spot for a day at the beach, and while many people visit independently, the beach is also a popular spot on area tours. Some tours mix beach time with a visit to area cenotes, while other tours stick to the water, taking guests on cruises alongside local beaches. There's a beach club at the shore with lounge chairs that you can rent and a restaurant, or you can bring your own towel and stretch out on the palm-fringed sands.
Things to know before you go
Food and cocktails are available for purchase at the on-site El Paraiso Beach Club.
Sun beds and umbrellas are available to rent from Playa Paraiso Beach Club on a first-come, first-served basis.
Outside food and drink are prohibited at the Playa Paraiso Beach Club, but you can bring bottled water.
Wear reef-safe sunscreen to help protect the local ecosystem.
How to get there
Playa Paraiso is located in Tulum, south of the Tulum Archaeological Site. The easiest way to get there is on foot (if you're staying in Tulum), by joining a tour, or by taking a taxi if you're coming from elsewhere. Parking is available near the beach for a fee, but it's subject to availability.
When to get there
It’s a good idea to arrive first thing in the morning to rent a lounge chair, as they can sell out. You'll find the best beach conditions between November and January when there’s typically little rainfall. Note that summer often gets rain, and masses of seaweed may arrive on the beach.

Not far from Playa Paraiso, Tankah Park is an adventure park featuring many things to do. In one day, you can go ziplining, canoeing, and snorkeling in cenotes, and many tours to the park also include a visit to the beach to go swimming in the warm Caribbean Sea.
