One of the most luxurious ways to experience Praia da Conceicao is during a private sailing cruise on a yacht. You can sip sparkling wine and watch the sunset over the Atlantic.

Things to know before you go

• While most vendors accept credit cards, some prefer cash so it’s a good idea to take some euros with you.

• Ramps leading down to the beach mean it’s wheelchair and stroller accessible.

• This beach is a popular choice with families, as the water is nearly always calm and ideal for swimming.

How to get there

Praia da Conceicao is just a 3-minute walk from the Cascais train station; from Cais do Sodre station in Lisbon, you can take the train all the way here, traveling along the coast. Cascais is the final station on the 40 minute-trip.

When to get there

Praia da Conceicao is most crowded from June to September, when you have to arrive early to secure a space. To spend time on Lisbon’s coast without the crowds, visit during the shoulder seasons of May and October, when the weather remains fine but accommodation prices plummet.

Praia da Conceicao boasts a prime location by the popular resort town of Cascais, which has attracted Portuguese royalty for centuries. It’s famous for its culture-rich Museum Quarter, where highlights include an art museum dedicated to famous Portuguese artist Paula Rego, and Cascais Cultural Center, famous for its visual arts.
