How to get there

Praia do Castelo is 4.5 miles (7.5 kilometers) from the center of Albufeira; it’s a 15-minute drive by car or if using a rideshare service. You can also take the number 8 bus there, which departs from central Albufeira and drops you off a 10-minute walk away.

When to get there

Praia do Castelo is open 24 hours a day and seven days a week, and tends to be busiest in the peak July and August summer season. There are lifeguards on patrol during the summer months, even though the waters are generally calm and safe for swimming.

How to walk on top of the cliffs

From Praia do Castelo, you can follow a pathway that leads to the top of the cliffs overlooking the Algarvian coastline. The marked pathways are safe and not too close to the edge, leading you through fragrant pine forests to other beaches such as Praia do Evaristo and Praia do Coelha.
