Quang Ba Flower Market
236 D. Au Co, Quang An, Tây Ho, Hanoi, Northern Vietnam, 100000
One of Hanoi’s most vibrant, colorful, cheerful attractions, the Quang Ba Flower Market is a can’t-miss—unless you need your sleep. Believe it or not, the market goes from roughly 10pm to 6am, winding down after sunrise. If you can get here, bring your camera, bring your haggling skills, and bring your appreciation for all things bright and beautiful.
The basics
In the Tay Ho District, Quang Ba is the grandest flower market in Hanoi. Commercial wholesale buyers come here to strike deals and buy in bulk, especially in the early hours. As the night trickles on, locals and travelers fill the street to purchase flowers, vases, baskets—anything flower-adjacent—for every occasion. Usually incredibly well organized, you’ll find roses, lilies, daisies, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, and more. The market is particularly famous for its orchids, which are sold in colors and varieties beyond standard imagination.
Things to know before you go
If you’re looking for a deal, know that cheaper flowers can be found further into the market.
Sometimes flowers can be old. Inspect the flowers up close; if they’re wilting, choose another stall.
The vendors expect haggling, even from tourists. Don’t be rude, but don’t be shy, either.
How to get there
Quang Ba is just 3 miles (5 kilometers) from the center of Hanoi. If you have a car or motorbike, you’ll find it along the Nghi Tam dike from Hong Ha Street. Otherwise, you can hail a taxi or xe om and get dropped off at the market (if the latter, agree on a price first).
When to get there
Commercial buyers are usually at Quang Ba around 12–2am, prepping for the next day; if you’d like to witness that hustle and bustle, come then—the market is a special kind of experience at its busiest (yet the city is still sleeping). Otherwise, to avoid the crowds, come closer to sunrise.
A flower-ful February
Flowers are a big deal around the Lunar New Year, aka Tet (Vietnamese New Year). The colorful blooms mark festivities, adorn ceremonial offerings, honor ancestors, decorate public spaces, line the streets, and more. If you can experience Quang Ba around this time—early February—it’s an even more memorable experience.
