Qurum Beach
Al Shati Street, Muscat, Oman
Qurum Beach, famous for its soft golden sand and water activities, is the go-to destination for families and active visitors in Oman. The low tide allows for a delightful walk along the coast, and you can also enjoy perusing the amenities—beachside hotels, snack bars, and cafés. For extra enticement, there are also top-notch restaurants facing the water.
The basics
Nestled alongside the Qurum Natural Reserve lies a pristine sandy beach full of ecological wonder, making it a haven for nature enthusiasts. Not only can visitors bask in the warmth of the sun and sand, but they can also engage in water sports, including beach volleyball and kite surfing, or simply take a refreshing dip in the azure-colored waters. Locals flock to this location as the sun sets to relish delicious barbeque dinners, soccer games, and ocean breezes.
Things to know before you go
It is safe to take a dip at the beach, but make sure to heed high-tide warnings.
Conservative swimwear is encouraged for all visitors.
Some operators offer kayak and Jet-Ski rentals around the outskirts of the beach.
Free parking is available along Al Shati Street, which runs alongside the beach.
How to get there
Qurum Beach is located 20 minutes from Muscat International Airport. You can take a taxi directly to the beachfront, or rent a car and park in one of the parking spaces available along Al Shati Street. The bus is a convenient option as well, with bus line 01 running along Sultan Qaboos Street and offering the closest stop to the beach.
When to get there
With perennially warm weather, it's no surprise that this beautiful beach attracts tourists all year round. However, if you're looking to escape the crowds, the best seasons are the months on either side of the peak winter period. During October and again in April, the temperatures are warm, but the crowds are far smaller than in winter. It's the perfect time to soak up the crisp sea breeze and lower humidity levels.
Plenty of space on the sand
Qurum Beach is one of the longest beaches in Oman. At low tide, the shoreline extends far into the water, providing a picturesque view and plenty of space to spread out along the sand to relax. With the abundance of palm trees that line the sand and some purpose-built shelters, there is no shortage of shaded spaces to enjoy a picnic or simply soak up the sun.
