Reduta Jazz Club

Národní Třída 20, Prague, Czech Republic, 110 00

The oldest jazz and theater club in Prague, the Reduta Jazz Club has been a player in the city’s cultural and political scene since 1957. In addition to hosting jazz greats, the club was a gathering place for Czech dissidents in the 1980s. Pop in to catch jazz, blues, and swing concerts plus a variety of theater performances.

The basics

Light up your night in Prague with an evening at the Reduta Jazz Club—book your tickets to a show at this popular music and theater venue in advance to avoid disappointment. Said to be the oldest continuously operating jazz and theater club in the world, Reduta Jazz Club offers a rich roster of musical performances and acts from across the globe.

Bands such as the Glenn Miller Orchestra, the U.S. Army Big Band, and the European Big Band have enjoyed its great acoustics and Petrof grand piano over the decades; even former U.S. president Bill Clinton stopped in for a jam session in 1994. The theater still offers small-scale performances, kids’ shows, and a unique black-light theater—the first of its kind in the world.

Things to know before you go

Live concerts are held each evening, while Friday and Saturday nights have two back-to-back performances. The theater schedule changes from week to week, so check the club’s website for upcoming performances. There is a cloakroom and bar for drinks during regular performances; dinner concerts are held on holidays. This historic venue has steps inside the club and is not wheelchair-accessible.

How to get there

Reduta Jazz Club is just south of Prague’s Staré Mesto district and is the ideal way to cap off a day touring the medieval Old Town. It is within walking distance of many of the main sights in the historic center, or you can take the metro to the Narodni Trida station.

When to get there

Musical performances are generally held daily at 8pm on Sundays and weekdays, and at 7pm and 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays. Theater performances have a separate schedule and are generally held at 7 pm; children’s shows are held in the morning and afternoon.

Where to find Prague’s jazz scene

Reduta Jazz Club might be the most storied venue in Prague, but it’s not the only spot in the city to catch a live jazz set. For avant-garde jazz, head to the basement AghaRTA Jazz Center near Wenceslas Square or settle in for a cozy night at Jazz and Blues Club Ungelt in a baroque cellar nearby. For a more cosmopolitan vibe, hit U Malého Glena in the Lesser Town and Jazz Dock, a floating venue docked along the trendy Smíchov district.
