If visiting independently, you can take bus number 725 directly to Richmond from Hobart's City Interchange Stop D4. Private shuttles to Richmond or Mount Wellington and Richmond are also available to pre-book online.

Richmond Gaol is usually open daily, but it's a good idea to check the website for any special closures, particularly if you plan to visit on a public holiday. If you want to beat the crowds, come later in the day or right when the jail opens.
